Casual Friday: Epic Skyrim Song

On Fridays I like to take a step back from my usually grumpy demeanor and post about something that I find awesome. Today, I want to share this epic video of a man and a girl, one on vocals one on violin, totally outdoing the full orchestral team that made the original Skyrim intro song. There are really so many things I like about this video. I guess I will just list them out.

1. Costumes. It takes a lot of guts to put on Nord and Elf costumes from a popular video game franchise, run around in the snow, bellow viking chants, and then upload that video to YouTube. Had they done any one of those things, I would have loved the video. But they did them all, and there is not a hint of shame or embarrassment on those faces. They are just having a fantastic time.

2. The cover. Seriously, that violinĀ goes to work. I love violin music, but even if you don’t this should appeal to you. The truth is this isn’t some amateur performance, there is very real skill here. Also, this is one of the few times I have heard a violin sound “meaty,” and I really like it.

3. The environment. Don’t ask me how, but they nailed the choice of location. It feels like Skyrim!

Gah, I know this is so nerdy, but come on, how did they put this thing together so well? It is fun, it is epic, and it is what I am watching probably four or five times after I post this. Have a good Friday, workers of the world.
